Tooth Gem Aftercare
When can I eat or drink again?
Patience is the secret to a lasting bond. Wait at least one hour before drinking water and two hours before eating. For the first 24 hours, stick to softer foods and avoid using the gem-side of your mouth to bite directly into anything crunchy or hard (like apples or crusty bread).
How do I brush my teeth without knocking it off?
You can—and should—maintain your oral hygiene. However, for the first 24 hours, skip the electric toothbrush and gently hand-brush around the gem. After the initial day, you can return to your normal routine. Just avoid using whitening toothpastes directly on the gem area, as they can weaken the bond over time.
How long will my sparkle last?
Our gems are semi-permanent. Depending on your enamel and how well you follow the ritual, they typically stay curated for 6 months to a year, though many last much longer. If your gem happens to fall off within the first two weeks, reach out to the studio—we’ve got you covered.
Will this damage my tooth or enamel?
Not at all. At Apt.144, we use a non-invasive process similar to applying an orthodontic bracket. There is no drilling and no pain. The gem is bonded to the surface of the enamel, and when it’s removed, your tooth will remain exactly as it was before.
How do I get the gem off when I’m ready for a change?
Never attempt to "flick" or pull the gem off yourself. When you’re ready to move on to your next look, simply visit your dentist during a routine cleaning. They can safely buff the gem and the remaining bonding agent off in seconds, leaving your enamel smooth and polished.
Can I still get my teeth professionally cleaned?
Yes! Hygienists deal with braces and permanent retainers every day; your tooth gem is no different. They can clean around it easily. In fact, keeping the area around the gem clean ensures the surrounding enamel stays as bright as the crystal itself.
