Permanent Jewelry Aftercare

Can I really live in this? (Shower, Gym, Pool)

Absolutely. Because we use solid 14k gold, your jewelry is designed to be a permanent part of your lifestyle. It won't tarnish in the shower, oxidize at the gym, or react to chlorine in the pool. It’s the ultimate low-maintenance luxury—it stays as bright as the day we welded it.

What if I need to remove it for a medical reason (MRI/Surgery)?

Don't panic. If a medical professional requires you to remove it, simply find the jump ring (where we made the weld) and use a pair of household scissors or nail clippers to snip it.

Pro Tip: Save your chain! Bring it back into Apt.144, and we can re-weld it for a small fee so your archive remains intact.

Will this set off the metal detectors at the airport?

No. Fine jewelry, especially minimalist 14k gold chains, is not dense enough to trigger TSA or airport security scanners. You can travel the world with your sparkle without a second thought.

What should I do if the chain snags or breaks?

While 14k gold is durable, it isn't indestructible. If your jewelry gets caught and snaps, the most important thing is to find the chain. As long as you have the gold, we can usually repair and re-weld it for you. If the chain is lost, it would require a full replacement.

How do I keep it looking shiny?

Over time, your jewelry might pick up a little buildup from lotions, perfumes, or natural skin oils. To restore its "Apt.144 glow," simply use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a bit of mild dish soap to gently clean the chain, then rinse with warm water.

Is it normal for it to feel like it’s not there?

Yes! That is the goal. We measure your chain to ensure it has the perfect amount of "drape"—not so tight that it pinches, and not so loose that it snags. It should feel like a whisper on your skin; after a day or two, you’ll forget you’re even wearing it until it catches the light.
